The city of Paterson kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations outside City Hall Wednesday with music and performances by Latino artists.
Food trucks were brought in to help honor the city’s Hispanic and Latino heritage as well with free lunches for employees.
Mayor Andre Sayegh said Hispanics are the largest demographic in Paterson.
“We have one of the largest Hispanic populations in the country as well. We have Dominicans, Peruvians, Mexicans, Columbians, Puerto Ricans — they all come here to Paterson. They all feel at home here in Paterson,” Sayegh said.
Hispanic artists also helped to decorate parts of City Hall.
National Hispanic Heritage Month runs until Oct. 15.
